4 days in Barcelona

Take a moment to read this short overview of what to do in Barcelona when you have limited time and budget. As a city full of culture, shops, restaurants and a large choice of nightlife entertainment, there is lots you can do!

Eating and drinking (my favorite part!)

Breakfast in a backyard…. in the middle of the city! This might be the only thing that I had planned since before boarding the plane. There is this cute café just behind the Museu Frederic Marès and next to the Catedral: it’s the Café d’Estiu!

Regarding restaurants, the best advice that I can give is to do a little research for that place you really want to go to (the Café d’Estiu for me) and just be spontaneous for the rest: that means walking into the first place that catches your attention!

Nature and its beauty: Park Güell

This park exceeded my expectations: it’s stunning! it’s lovely to stroll around and it’s huge, so plan at least 2 hours for the “free” area. There are some paid areas with a timeslot method, so better to plan it in advance.

Nightlife

On Saturday the metro is running all night long, which was a surprise for me! That means no stressing about getting home or not finding a taxi that will pick you up. Club-wise, we went to Opium. We arrived at 2:30 and it was still packed by the time we left, at 5:30! I loved that!

Accommodation

I am a big fan of Airbnb! We booked Ahmed’s apartment that is “located in El Born, area know for its big variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Right next to Santa Caterina market, palace of Catalan Music, plaza Catalunya and Ciutadella park. Spacious, modern and cozy apartment.”

Getting around the city

There are different options:

Hola BCN card offers you unlimited journeys on Barcelona public transport over 2 days (48 h), 3 days (72 h), 4 days (96 h) or 5 days (120 h) – airport included

Rent a bike! the best way to go sightseeing without a schedule. Prices start from around 10 euros a day.

walk around + single metro/bus rides when necessary As we didn’t really plan our trip in advance, we decided to just be spontaneous and went for this option.
